Your Pet’s first visit

When you schedule your first visit at Strides, you will spend that appointment reviewing your pet’s medical history, what brings you to our facility including goals and concerns, plus a physical examination to understand where your animal is at currently.

After we complete the exam and go over all the information, we will present you with a treatment plan recommendation and schedule out your future visits. Moving forward your visits will last 15-60 minutes depending on what we are covering that day.

Components of Exercise Programs

When you choose Strides at Magnolia for your pet’s rehabilitation you get more than basic care, you get care designed for your animal specifically and one that will change as they improve.

Passive Range of Motion (PROM)
  • If your pet has just had surgery or an injury that limits their ability to utilize their limbs, we can help. By manually recreating a range of motion movement, we can help joints from getting “stuck”.
  • PROM helps improve joint flexibility and reduce stiffness by increasing synovial fluid keeping the joint flexible during times of inactivity.
Active Range of Motion (AROM)
  • Customized activities that will encourage our pets to use their limbs and perform a full range of motion.
  • This improves muscle strength and joint mobility.
Strengthening Exercises

Endurance Exercises
  • Workouts on treadmills, swimming, or hydrotherapy.
  • This improves cardiovascular health and stamina without putting too much stress on joints.
Balance and Coordination
  • Activities using balance boards, therapy balls, and obstacle courses.
  • These techniques are used for proprioception (body awareness), coordination, balance and core strength.
Stretching Exercises
  • Static and dynamic stretches to maintain and improve flexibility.
  • This prevents muscle contractures and adhesions.
Manual Therapy
  • Massage, myofascial release, and joint mobilizations.
  • This will reduce pain, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.
Therapeutic Modalities
  • Use of heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation.
  • Another method to control pain, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
Home Exercise Program (HEP)
  • Using our exercise plan app, we will send you custom exercises so you can continue working out with your pet at home.
  • This is a great way to bond with your pet and assist in their rehabilitation.
